Annie was another bride who booked Louise Perry to plan her wedding who in turn recommend The Tori Harris Pro Team for hair and makeup. I absolutely love working on weddings with Louise and her team, not just because Louise and Natalie are so lovely but because they’re exceptionally well organised too!
Annie’s wedding was at Magdalene College in Cambridge, I love travelling up to Cambridge for weddings – it’s where I grew up so I know the city well and love having an excuse to go back! Not only that but it is absolutely beautiful in the summer when the river is packed full of punters and the river banks laden with picnic-ers!
I met Annie when she was here for a planning trip – based in the US she had limited time so we slotted her trial into this week. At the trial we Annie went for a half up half down style however we felt like her hair needed a bit of extra volume. When creating a half up half down style this can often be the case as you take so much of the hair in the half up section the part left down can feel thin and a bit “meh”!
Prior to the wedding day Annie paid a visit to my favourite extensions specialist Fox & Vamp who filled her hair with some natural looking and perfectly blended tape extensions. Tapes are great for hair up as they lay flat to the head and so we can hide them perfectly. For Annie’s bridal hair we plaited the half up style and then filled it with fresh flowers by from the wonderful Blue Sky Flowers. (Who more memorably for me helped my get my car out of the worlds tightest spot between a brick wall and sheer drop into the river – thank you Liz, you dream! Your driving skills are far superior to mine!!)
Annie’s makeup was natural as she doesn’t wear much and wanted to fill comfortable on the day. As it was hot I used a slightly thicker foundation so that it would last and not just slide off! I also used a waterproof powder to ensure she stayed looking fresh! I skipped all highlighter as I knew Annie would get a natural shine in the heat anyway and the highlighter would just look far too much in the photos in the harsh sun.
Annie left us this lovely feedback: “Tori was brilliant, doing exactly the natural looking hair and make up right from the outset, and giving me advice on how to get the look I wanted (eg hair extensions). She gave me a few looks before so I knew exactly what I wanted on the day. On the day she was super punctual, had us all ready in time and was a lovely presence to have in the room with us.”
